Policy Statement Where all parties agree, current permanent employees may be assigned to another position or set of duties and responsibilities on a temporary basis not normally exceeding 12 months. The seconded employee shall continue to receive his/her current salary scale and shall return to his/her regular department or position upon completion of the secondment. Either party shall have the right to terminate the agreement upon the provision of written notice. Application This policy applies to all permanent employees in organizations scheduled to the Public Service Commission Act. Bargaining Unit employees should also consult their respective collective agreements, where necessary conditions of respective collective agreements apply. Secondments into the public service from the public sector will require the pre-approval of the Public Service Commission. Definitions
